standingHorse Picture Upgrading to Frontier 4.1
Gotta have it! Here's how...
  1. Download the 4.1 upgrade package. Debinhex and unstuff the archive. Open the folder. Copy the UserLand Frontier app into your Frontier folder, replacing the 4.0 app. Launch the new copy of Frontier.

  2. Run the Installer script. It offers to back up Frontier.root. We strongly recommend that you do it. A log outline opens, telling you what the Installer is doing. If there's an error, quit Frontier; in the Finder do a Get Info on the Frontier app. Give it more memory. Launch Frontier. Run the Installer script again.

  3. Open the 'Optional 4.1 Menubar Upgrade' folder. Open the Read Me file in a web browser. We reorganized Frontier's menus in this release. We highly recommend that people use the new menu bar, but it is an optional part of the upgrade.

  4. Download the Online Docs folder. Debinhex and unstuff the archive. Move folder into your Frontier folder. It's a mirror of the new Frontier website.

  5. Stay in Touch. We're getting a full T1 line! Planning for growth. Please watch the News & Updates page. Use the Frontier Mailing Lists to ask questions and solve problems.

It got a lot easier!

  1. The user interface got easier. Navigators guide you thru all the important places in Frontier's object database. Check out the New Script command in The Main Menu for an example. Frontier's menubar got a major cleanup in 4.1.

  2. The User's Guide has been totally revised and cleaned up. All the menus are documented too. New docs for website scripting.

  3. Frontier 4.1 can run cards created by the MacBird user interface designer.

  4. See New Features in Frontier 4.1 for more new features.
